Kevin and Kim Brett (KnK) have lived in Coromandel Town for the past 20 years or so.
A gifted wood crafter, Kevin lovingly turns rough pieces of wood in beautiful pieces of woodwork that are a great addition to any home.
Much of the wood is found locally, washed down-river in storms from the natural native bush on the encompassing Coromandel hills, only to wash up on the rocky beaches of the Islands and coast of the Coromandel harbour and surrounding areas. After sitting for a time (sometimes years) to dry, the logs are milled, ready to be turned into lovely pieces of art.
Through Kevin’s work as a builder, other wood is salvaged from some of the historic building that have been torn down or renovated in the Coromandel Town area, such as the Assay House, the Bottom Pub (now the Admirals Arms Hotel), the Town Hall, and other buildings of note.
Each piece is unique, with its own personality of grain and knots and imperfections. While we may endevour to replicate certain pieces, each is different in its own way.
